After traveling the first 800km on bicycle, upon arriving to Peten we fell in love with the region and Guatemala so we decided to speed up our travels and get back as soon as we can. Since the start of 2011 we continued our tour through Central America as backpackers, taking buses and other random forms of transport to get around. We never lost our passion for in-depth travel and remained hungry for the immersion we felt while traveling on bikes. This enabled us to really get into each area we arrive in, seeking that same feeling. We like to call this hybrid, slow and immersive type of travel - "barefoot travel".
The map below shows the bicycle tour leg of our trip, the eco-lodges we had visited as green place-marks and ones we hadn't seen yet as red place-marks, and you can also where we had gotten to since leaving the bikes behind in Flores.
